Workshop

To pursue our mission we host free educational workshops for students to help empower them to create short films on a variety of topics affecting them and their communities. Our workshops bring in professional filmmakers as instructors giving students the opportunity to learn from and interact with industry experts.

We have partnered with the Don Moyer’s Boys & Girls Club, the Stephens Family YMCA, the Champaign Public Library, and the Urbana Public library to make these workshops possible.

Monday, October 3, 2022, Film Workshop at the Champaign Public Library

All students in middle and high school were welcome to participate in this free workshop that provided a series of hands-on activity stations on different aspects of film production. Students had the opportunity to try out camera gear, experience the technical elements of digital filmmaking, create stop motion films, and learn about VR filmmaking.

The stations were led by experienced filmmakers and professors from the Media & Cinema Studies department at the University of Illinois.

In addition to stations, there was a live panel discussion with Emmy-nominated and nationally-recognized filmmakers sharing their experiences over Zoom.

CUIFF partnered with the Don Moyer’s Boys & Girls Club, the Stephens Family YMCA, the Champaign Public Library, and the Urbana Public library to put on the free community workshop
